Mike Madison is an Indiana native. He grew up in several communities in Northern Indiana, but considers Fort Wayne to be home. He graduated from Wayne High School in 2002 with honors in the top ten of his class.
Following his high school education, Madison attended Indiana University in Bloomington. During his time in Bloomington, Madison worked full time at Best Buy as a computer salesman. The year before he graduated, Madison was offered a position at WisdomTools, a story based, e-Learning company located in Bloomington. It was also during this time that Madison founded and began operating his own web design company, MikeMadison.net.
As MikeMadison.net, Madison spent the following 2.5 years working with clients primarily in and around Bloomington, Indiana. During this time he worked with the construction, e-commerce, education, e-learning, food, medical, music, personal / blogs, publication, real estate, retail, and social networking industries. He specialized in websites that use content managers, such as WordPress and Drupal.
Early in 2007, Madison was introduced to Marty Siegel, founder of WisdomTools, and a professor and dean in the School of Informatics at Indiana University. By the time Madison received his Bachelors of Arts degree from Indiana University in August 2007 (with a major in English and a minor in Business), he had already been accepted into the Human Computer Interaction Design Program in the School of Informatics.
Madison studied under Youn Lim, Marty Siegel, Jeff Bardzell, Shaowen Bardzell, Erik Stolterman, and Eli Blevis while he worked on his degree. He also maintained a full time employment status with WisdomTools throughout the majority of the time in the masters program. Topics of interest included Viral Marketing, Video / Computer Gaming, Computer Supported Collaborative Work (CSCW), Web Design, e-Learning, and Adobe Flash / Flex development.
He founded Imagine Design Experience LLC in March 2009. This company will continue offering the same services as MikeMadison.net, just on a larger scale. After receiving his Masters degree in May, 2009, Madison relocated to Corvallis, Oregon, where his fiance is pursuing a degree from Oregon State.
Recently, Madison was ranked in the top 10% of WordPress Developers Worldwide by Odesk.
